Noesis Leads by Example in Promoting Diversity and Female Talent in Technology

With a team of employees’ children, in-house mentors, and active participation in the event, Noesis reinforces its commitment to diversity, innovation, and inclusion in technology.

For the fourth consecutive year, Noesis reaffirms its support for Technovation Girls Portugal, the national chapter of the world’s largest technology and entrepreneurship competition for girls aged 8 to 18. This year, for the first time, Noesis went beyond support and joined as an official sponsor of the initiative.

This edition marked a special milestone: Noesis participated in the competition with a team formed by daughters and relatives of our employees. Over several weeks, three girls, aged between 8 and 12, met both online and in person at Noesis' Lisbon office to design and develop their own tech project.

With the guidance of mentors Isabela Cruz and Liliana Barrelas, from Quality Management, DevOps & Automation, the team “Code & Coins” created an original mobile application using Scratch, a platform that teaches programming in an intuitive way, to promote financial literacy among young people.

The families of Noesis also played a key role in this journey. Márcia Carvalho, Petronio Bernardino, Joana Carvalho, and Marina Carvalho were instrumental in supporting and motivating the girls throughout the development process.

The final presentation of the project took place on May 24th at the Faculdade de Ciências da Universidade de Lisboa, where the team received highly positive feedback from the jury. Although they did not advance to the semi-finals, the experience was incredibly enriching, culminating in a day of celebration where several teams from across the country showcased the tech solutions they had developed over the past months.

When asked what motivated them to participate and help guide these young girls, Liliana Barrelas shared: “What motivated me the most to take part in this initiative was the chance to inspire younger girls to become part of my world and to encourage them to have big ambitions for their future.” Isabela Cruz added: I believe what drove me was the opportunity to help these girls step into the spotlight, something I wish had happened to me when I was younger. Today, I believe I can make that possible through my support, my commitment, and my teaching.”

In addition, Noesis was invited to join the judging panel for the senior category (16–18 years), reinforcing our involvement and commitment to the event and its mission.

For Noesis, participating in Technovation Girls is a natural extension of its values. As Sandra Martins from Marketing & Communication, and one of the members of the competition's judging panel, points out:We believe that innovation is bon from a diversity of ideas and experiences. By supporting Technovation Girls, we aim to inspire girls to discover their talent in technology and help build a more inclusive and representative digital future.”

As part of this year’s engagement, Noesis also organized an exclusive IT workshop and training, organized by Happy Code, for 12 children of employees, This action continues to promote early contact with technology and reinforces our commitment to education, inclusion, and talent development from an early age.

Through these initiatives, Noesis continues to invest in the future, fostering innovation, inspiring young minds, and promoting gender equality in tech.

Let’s make the world a better place.
