Organised by Noesis together with Qlik, the Lisbon BI Forum brought together the best specialists in Business Intelligence, to share knowledge, trends, news and projections in Advanced Analytics, Big Data, AI and Machine Learning.

Proper data management and predictive analytics were the paths taken to improve the performance of organizations and accelerate their digital transformation.

The first edition of the event had the special presence of Nuno Pacheco, Noesis’ Business Intelligence Director, Gabriel Coimbra, IDC Portugal’s Country Manager, Filippo Lambiente, Cloudera’s Presales and Renato Vieira, Qlik Portugal’s Solutions Architect.

Nuno Pacheco – Opened the session by highlighting some of the Business Intelligence trends such as Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence, which are part of Noesis’ Solutions.

Gabriel Coimbra – Shared his IDC predictions for the market of global analytics and information management and highlighted three trends: Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence incorporation; new client communication interfaces, with voice taking a key role; and the massive use of these technologies through the cloud.

IDC predicts that next year half of the world companies will be generating new sources of revenue through the sale of insights and metrics obtained from data analysis. Starting in 2019, the automated digital assistants shall improve the organizations’ productivity four times over.

Filippo Lambiente – Emphasized the importance of having structured data for the decision making process. The cloud, open source and Machine Learning emerged in response to the increase in data flow coming from multiple sources and the high processing and storage costs.

Cloudera includes Machine Learning and Analytics technology, guaranteeing the transformation of complex data into clear insights for the business. The partnership with Qlik makes the data intelligible and accessible for corporate users.

Renato Vieira – Presented the roadmap for 2020, which uses the collective intelligence in the organizations as a basis, and highlighted the importance of visualization which allows interpreting the value of “Seeing is believing” data.

The event's agenda included a round table about the benefits of BI tools in improving the decision making process. Carla, Alves, Management Information & BI Director for Ageas Portugal, Fernando Lourenço, Central Planning Director for Trivalor’s FOOD area, and João Alves, CIO / Information Systems Director for ALD Automotive Portugal, all participated in the debate moderated by Carlos Jerónimo, Qlik’s Sales Director.

Fernando Lourenço shared Trivalor’s success case. In order to better know the client and manage all the disperse information, the company chose Qlik. Today, “working close together with Noesis’ team”, the company possesses “quality information”, available timely enough to make the right decision. "We cannot forget the past, but we have to look to the present and understand how the future will be like. Forecasting is instrumental in order to understand what the business will be like in the coming months”, stated Trivalor’s manager.

Ageas Portugal has been using the QlikView platform. According to Carla Alves, the platform has been the digital transformation 'engine' of the company, adding that the group is “evolving towards Qlik Sense, given that we have much more demanding users who are increasingly interested in exploring the solutions”. Soon, Ageas Portugal wants to adopt a more predictive model so it can “anticipate, reinvent, innovate and have a competitive advantage”.

ALD Automotive chose Noesis and Qlik in order to “make better decisions based on the data” and to manage to integrate the data in a single platform “in record time”, with an impact in terms of “service improvement and operational efficiency”, highlighted João Alves.

Luís Gonçalves, Noesis’ Business Intelligence Manager, ran the BI workshop that closed the event, presenting the Qlik Sense solution, its potential in analysing great quantities of data and creating interactive stories to show this data.
In Luís Gonçalves’ opinion, we have been witnessing “an accelerated shift in the market towards end-to-end management solutions and information transformation”.

The event counted on IT Insight as media partner and also established itself as a true networking platform for over 250 professionals who attended the Lisbon BI Forum.
